BREAKING NEWS: Mark is proud to again receive the SAVE endorsement! SAVE is recognized as South Florida’s longest serving organization dedicated to protecting the LGBTQ community against discrimination.
Sea level rise is a scientific fact and a real risk to South Florida — particularly for residents of Miami Beach. And as flooding continues to put our safety and our property at risk, it’s critical that we take action.
That’s why I sponsored an innovative program offering residents matching grants of up to $20,000 for projects to increase resiliency and protect against flooding.
Here’s how the program works:
In the coming budget year, Miami Beach has over $1 million available for private property adaptation projects.
In Spring of 2022, the city will launch initial property assessments with recommendations and costs for qualifying resiliency projects. The assessment would then qualify the property owner to apply for a 50/50 improvement grant, up to $20,000 per property.
Here in Miami Beach, we understand the urgency of updating our city’s infrastructure to withstand increased flooding and natural disasters, and the goal of this initiative is to prevent flood damage now and in the future.
With gratitude,
Mark
