Dear Friends & Neighbors,

As we begin Thanksgiving week, I wanted to share my gratitude to Commissioners Michael Gongora and Micky Steinberg whose farewell on the dais is scheduled for tomorrow morning. It’s been an honor to serve with both of them, and I appreciate their contributions to Miami Beach. I wish them much success in their new adventures!

Their departure means two new commissioners were elected last week, along with Mayor Dan Gelber and me. I was proud to endorse the Mayor, grateful for his endorsement, and thrilled that he will be returning to the dais.
In addition, I couldn’t be more delighted to welcome Alex Fernandez and welcome back Kristen Rosen Gonzalez who both bring strong knowledge of the challenges for Miami Beach and ideas to help move our city forward. The four of us will be sworn tomorrow morning at City Hall.
I will be speaking at the Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club this week, November 23rd at 8:30am at CAO Bakery (1420 Alton Road) to discuss several items affecting our city, including the recent denial of sidewalk cafe permits. Stop by or tune in on the Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club’s Facebook page (@tuesdaymorningbreakfastclub).
I would like to wish all of our neighbors a warm holiday season. I’m grateful for our City Administration, the Mayor, my colleagues on the commission, our incredible residents, and my wonderful partner Laura. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Yours in service,
Mark
